For over a century cigarettes and cigarette manufacturers have made millions of dollars, Euros, yen, etc. selling addictive products.

Recent internal documents have shown that not only were the companies aware that their products were harmful and addictive, but they also took efforts to make them MORE addictive.

Why not?  More addictive products = more product use = more product purchase = more profits.  It's simple.

But the last 20 years has seen a social back-lash against the tobacco companies not only because of the health problems their products have caused but also because of the ways these companies conducted business.  The messages they did or didn't say to the public.  The lies they told all for the goal of profits.

So what do you do as a business when your cash cow product stops producing as much "milk"?  Find another one!

Now you would think that a company that has spent 100+ years in the agricultural business would simply apply their vast knowledge and research skills to farming.  Maybe some better, cheaper, organic foods.

No, there's no money in that.  Besides a company with their business play is looking for something better (for them).

  • Corn, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup
  • Sugar, refined sugar (the best kind, right?)
• Low production cost - state of the "art" machines that produce tons of "processed" food every day.  Food not designed for it's nutritional value, but designed chemically and thermodynamically to "work best in the machines".
• Addictive product - add a few choice (an legal) ingredients like MSG, corn syrup and sugar - better yet just sell addictive product like Coffee and Tea

So what business is the former Phillip-Morris, now the Altria Group, getting into?

• Diam - a crunchy caramel candy bar covered in milk chocolate

• Jacobs coffee
• Kaffee HAG (the world's first decaffeinated coffee)
• Kool-Aid - sugar drink
• Kraft spreads, dressings, cheeses and dinners - processed foods
• Maxwell House - coffee
• Milka - Kraft Foods' best-selling brand of milk chocolate
• Miracle Whip - desert topping
• Miracoli dinners - processed food
• Nabisco biscuits - processed "food"
• Oscar Mayer meats - processed meat + extra stuff

Why would a company who's 100 year old business plan was to sell addictive products change?  No reason, just switch from socially less-acceptable products to legalized and subsidized addictive products.

What are we really saying?

Now, don't get us wrong, we aren't blaming Phillip-Morris/Altria of any wrong doing either intentional or unintentional.  We are just pointing out that they are continuing to do a great job following their business plan and making money.  Great for the owners and stockholders.

But you need to decide if you are going to be their customer.  And if you are that's fine.  Our point is that you need to carefully consider your nutrition and make sure you are getting ALL the nutrition your body needs.

Tips to Buying GOOD Food

Here's a good guideline: if you don't know what it is - don't eat it!  You know, just what your mom told you over and over when you were 2 years old.
